Rio Cucharas Inn –Brownfields Redevelopment Vision- Huerfano County Economic Development

The Rio Cucharas Inn redevelopment vision reimagines the former resort property as a vibrant, year-round residential and recreational community that builds on the site's existing amenities and natural landscape. The concept combines affordable and attainable housing, including approximately 28 proposed 3D-printed homes, with opportunities for workforce, senior, and multigenerational living. The plan proposes rehabilitating the existing indoor pool facility, retaining and improving the tennis courts, and expanding recreational amenities through a new community and event center. Additional features include pickleball courts, gathering spaces, walking trails, landscaped open space, and improved parking and circulation. The surrounding hillsides would remain largely natural, with trails connecting residents and visitors to the landscape. The vision focuses on transforming an underutilized property into a community asset that supports housing, recreation, economic development, and long-term reinvestment in Huerfano County. The brownfields visioning concept also aligns with Huerfano County's broader goal of creating a resilient, mixed-income neighborhood with shared community amenities.
