Tomah, Wisconsin – Downtown Revitalization Visioning
Kansas State University Technical Assistance to Brownfields (KSU TAB) Program
The Tomah Downtown Visioning Project developed conceptual redevelopment strategies to revitalize underutilized downtown properties, strengthen local businesses, and create a more active, welcoming community center. Working through the KSU TAB program, the project explored adaptive reuse of two catalyst buildings, a community commons and market space, opportunities for local food and retail businesses, and improvements to pedestrian connections, streetscapes, landscaping, and public gathering areas. Architectural renderings and conceptual site plans illustrated opportunities for outdoor dining, family activities, enhanced walkability, and new investment. The completed visioning package provides the community with a foundation for future redevelopment, grant funding, and downtown revitalization efforts.
The visioning effort was completed in May 2026. The City of Tomah also identifies the KSU-supported redevelopment study as part of its downtown investment strategy, with opportunities for dining, recreation, specialty retail, and mixed-use development
